Comparison Swatches of Taupe Eyeshadows - Chanel Safari, Laura Mercier Topaz, Mac Style Snob, Nars Ashes to Ashes, Stila Cloud, Mac French Grey...

Taupe fans unite! Here's a comparison I did of a bunch of taupe eyeshadows I've owned at some point in time. The only taupes I use now are Urban Decay Shakedown (a dupe of the hard-to-find Mac "French Grey" swatched below) and NARS Ashes to Ashes pictured here. Those colors seem to make my blue-green eyes stand out best. Outdoors, Wet n' Wild Nutty looks quite warm against my fair, cool skintone.

Swatches of Wet n' Wild "Nutty", Mac "Style Snob," Laura Mercier "Topez," Chanel "Safari," Nars "Ashes to Ashes," Mac "French Grey," and Stila "Cloud" against NW15 skin in direct sunlight:

Essie "Vanity Fairest" Nail Polish - Manicure Photos

After hunting for the perfect sheer polish for that clean, natural look, I've found Essie "Vanity Fairest"! It's the perfect pale pinky white color to disguise any yellow tones in my nails (thanks to my love affair with red polish). It doesn't streak as long as you use a base coat, and even without one the consistency is easy to work with. This particular shade of translucent pale pink complements my cool skin tone beautifully. My favorite aspect of Vanity Fairest is the fine shimmer in it that's only visible if you look closely. I also tried the beloved Essie shades "Mademoiselle" and "Sugar Daddy," but they didn't show up well enough on my nails using 2 coats.

Swatches of Nars "Desire" and Rock and Republic "Spank" blushes

My swatch collection is disorganized and disjointed, with the photos having been taken in various light settings. Still, I thought these swatches might be beneficial for anyone trying to find out how the products I've used look against fair skin.

My skin is between MAC NW10/NW15 with cool pink undertones.

Swatch comparison of NARS "Desire" and Rock and Republic "Spank" blushes under natural light:

As you can see, R&R "Spank" is peachier and more yellow-toned than Nars "Desire" which is a cool candy pink. They are both pigmented and smooth.

Welcome to My Fair Makeup!

My Fair Makeup is the project of a 20-something female who enjoys the hunt for those holy grail (HG) cosmetic products that can complement her pale coloring.

As some of you ladies know, finding the right skin products, lipstick, and eye shadow can be a grueling search if you are lighter in skintone than most drugstore foundations. Do you ever feel like most lipstick colors are too bright, too dark, too pale, and too orangey and too pink to be flattering? That a lot of eyeshadows pull orange or red on your skin? That black eyeliner makes you look goth or jersey-licious? I feel your pain! ;)

If your skintone is MAC NC/NW15 or lighter, feel free to contact me with swatches of products and reviews. I'd love to feature them here! Us fair ladies can band together and make shopping for makeup a bit easier through the sharing of our collective knowledge and swatch photos.

Sincerely,
V
